From its unique drop spindle cornice brackets to its unusual faceted south bay, Veranda House, ca. 1842, represents the best of American Pattern Book building. L ocated three blocks from the center of the village with its wonderful restaurants, shops, and art galleries, Veranda House Bed and Breakfast is also a short walk to the Dutchess County Fair Grounds, the location of county, antique, craft, and old car fairs. Plenty of off street parking is provided.The Village of Rhinebeck, New York, 90 miles north of New York City, is in the heart of the Hudson River Valley with its grand historic homes, hiking, wineries, antiques and historic driving tours. Veranda House Bed and Breakfast serves full Gourmet Breakfasts with fresh fruit, homemade pastries and a variety of breakfast entrees: orange yogurt pancakes, crepes, eggs "Veranda", French toast or tomato sausage tart. Every effort is made to cater to special dietary needs, especially if notified in advance. Breakfast is served in the dining room or on the terrace overlooking the garden, weather permitting. Enjoy appetizers on weekend evenings with your hosts, a retired college professor of architectural history and a former medical librarian, artist and gourmet cook. |
Rooms Rooms are available with four poster Shaker queen beds, one with lace canopy, or old fashioned wooden twin beds which can be converted to a king if requested. The rooms are decorated with beautiful wall papers, lace curtains, antique hand crocheted bedspreads or quilts, and elegant touches of antiques. All rooms have their own phones. |
